Theresa Cleary, DMD
My inspiration to provide in-home dentistry stems from my experiences with non-profits and community service organizations where I witnessed a broad range of procedures performed using portable dental equipment. In these clinical settings a comprehensive dental office would be set up overnight, allowing me to provide the same quality of care as I did in private practice. I realized that utilizing the highest quality portable equipment to provide dentistry to patients at their own houses would assist those who had trouble accessing traditional dental offices.
I hold a bachelors degree from the University of Rochester in Economics and Political Science, with a Management Studies Certificate in Accounting & Finance. Prior to dental school, I completed prerequisite courses for dental school admission at the Extension School of Harvard University.
My journey in dentistry began at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, MA, where I earned my Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) Magna Cum Laude. Since 2011 I have worked as a general dentist in Massachusetts. My private practice general dentist roles were in Chelmsford, Dedham and Framingham. My teaching experience in dental hygiene education started at Mount Ida College in 2018 and transferred, along with the entire department of dental hygiene. Since 2018 I have taught as an adjunct faculty member at Regis College, in the classroom on the Weston Campus and as a Supervising Dentist at the Regis College Dental Center in Waltham.
Currently I am pursuing a Master of Science Degree in Geriatric Dentistry and I will graduate in the spring of 2025 from the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at the University of Southern California. My research capstone project is a systematic review investigating minimally invasive topical treatments to slow or stop dental decay in older adult populations.
My professional memberships include Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the Special Care Dentistry Association.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I am actively involved in the community. I serve as a member of the Advisory Board for the Dental Hygiene program at Regis College, a board member for the Weston Scout House, and as a Girl Scout troop leader.
As I continue my education and professional development, I am driven by a passion for providing compassionate and comprehensive dental care, particularly for individuals who are not currently served by traditional private practice dental offices. I am excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to making meaningful contributions to the field of dentistry.
